Wetland Credit Standards
At LEX, we ensure only high-integrity, ecologically sound wetland mitigation credits are listed on our marketplace. Each credit source must pass our rigorous multi-point vetting process — evaluating ecological impact, regulatory compliance, and market transparency — with many not making the cut.
Bottomland Hardwoods
Restoration of seasonally flooded forested wetlands, typically located along rivers and floodplains, providing critical wildlife habitat, flood control, and water quality benefits.
Baldcypress / Tupelo Swamp
Swamp restoration projects in low-lying areas with standing water, dominated by Baldcypress and Tupelo trees, offering long-term water storage and carbon sequestration.
Pine Flatwoods / Savannah
Reestablishment of pine-dominated uplands with grassy understories, often fire-maintained, supporting rare species and improving hydrologic function.
Coastal Prarie
Fresh / Intermediate Marsh
Wetland systems with minimal salinity, restored to support native vegetation, flood protection, and habitat diversity across a range of freshwater gradients.
Brackish / Salt Marsh
Tidal marsh restoration projects that buffer storm surge, store carbon, and support fisheries. Often located in vulnerable coastal areas.
